Gender Reveal Cake

This was one of my favorite cakes I have done.  SO simple, yet So beautiful.  Katina and her husband are expecting their second baby.  At the ultrasound they had the tech write down the gender of the baby and put it in an envelope.  Then she brought me the envelope.  I have no idea how she didn't peak.  Don't think I could handle the suspense.  Anyway, only me and the ultrasound tech knew the gender of their new baby.  

I made a 6" round vanilla bean cake with vanilla buttercream filling dyed a  color representing the gender.  I then frosted the layers with vanilla buttercream rosettes, making sure to cover up every speck of the gender revealing frosting inside.  

She also brought me some fabric she had recently made a large bunting from and I created a mini bunting tied to two bamboo skewers with some jute.  I think it was a very quaint touch.  It was so exciting to be apart of such a huge event in a couples life.  

I was happy to hear that the Katina LOVED the cake and said the party went perfectly.  She and her husband are now expecting their second BOY!!
